If you your PC or laptop is throwing “This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)” then you need to solve this error as soon as possible as avoiding can cost you more.  

Windows Error code 31 is directly related to the WAN miniport, it is an annoying error that occurs on Windows 10 and Windows 8 computers. Whenever Operating system gets unable to access the drivers related to the WAN miniport then the user gets following error message:

1. Go to the Device Manager and open it.
2. Right-click on the WAN miniportdevice and choose “Update Driver Software”.
3. Choose “Browse my computer for driver software”.
4. After it, choose “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.
5. Uncheck “Show compatible hardware”.
6. In the left side column, choose Microsoft and in the right column choose “Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter”.
7. An Update Driver Warning dialog box will appear, choose “Yes” to continue installing this driver.
8. After the installation of the drivers, right-click the device and select “Uninstall”.
9. After uninstalling the device, right-click on the computer name in Device Manager and choose “Scan for hardware changes”
10. From View, choose “Show Hidden Devices”.
11. Now you will see that the WAN Miniport (Network monitor) will be started and there will no longer be a yellow error mark.
